February 6, 2023, midnight, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Southeastern Türkiye and adjoining Syria, flattening countless residential and commercial properties. Nine hours later, another earthquake of 7.5 m hit the same area. More than 100 aftershocks follow. The epicenter of this calamity is the city of Gaziantep, home to millions of Syrian refugees.
As of February 19, 2023, the total number who are recorded to have been killed is now 46,000, made up of 40,642. in Turkey and 5,800 in Syria. This is one of the deadliest earthquakes to hit the region in over 100 years. Turkish authorities fear the death toll to rise with more reported injuries.
Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed and victims of the disaster cannot enter their homes due to the danger of demolition. Earthquake survivors struggling with cold weather conditions need food.

Different agencies and 100s of volunteers are working non-stop to continue emergency aid, search and rescue operations.
There is urgent need to deliver food, water, warm clothes, hygiene and shelter materials to the earthquake victims in the cold freezing winter.
Following this, there will be long rebuilding process, both the infrastructure and the psychological trauma.
